Executive Administration Biographies

Shauna Quill, Executive Director

As Executive Director of University of Chicago Presents, Ms. Quill increased the scope of programming, attracted new audiences, and creating partnerships with academic and professional arts organizations in the Chicago area. The Soviet Arts Experience, a 16-month interdisciplinary celebration of artists’ response to the Politburo, involved the participation of 25 Chicago arts organizations. A ten-day interdisciplinary festival dedicated to composer Olivier Messiaen was hailed as brilliant by the Chicago press and named one of the top ten cultural events in Chicago in 2009.

Ms. Quill holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music Performance from Carnegie Mellon University. Originally from Garden City, New York, she studied flute at the Mannes College of Music Preparatory Division and at Columbia University. She began her career as an artist and publicity manager for Herbert Breslin, Inc. and then joined the staff of the Aspen Music Festival and School, where she was Artistic Administrator. Before moving to Chicago, Ms. Quill was Managing Director of the International Sejong Soloists and Green Mountain Music Festival in PyeongChang, South Korea. She served as consultant to the La Jolla Music Festival, EuroArts Berlin, and the Orel Foundation, and was project manager for Lincoln Center’s 2007/8 season’s concerts with Midori.

Ayree Koh, Administrative Director

Ayree Koh joined the New York Youth Symphony in June 2011. Her role requires a demanding and unique blend of strong organizational skills, financial discipline and design software skills.

Her prior experience includes managing and producing concerts for the World Civic Orchestra, the World Police Band, the Lake George Chamber Orchestra, and The Knights chamber orchestra in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Riverside Church, and Le Poisson Rouge.  As a manager and producer, Ms. Koh has overseen all aspects in concert production, contract negotiations, tour logistics, budgets, and marketing/publicity.

In April 2011, Ms. Koh co-organized a concert titled "NYC Musicians for Japan", which raised funds for the Japanese Red Cross Society following the earthquake and tsunami disasters.

Trained as a violinist, Ms. Koh attended The Juilliard School Pre-College Division, studying with Naoko Tanaka and continued her studies with Sylvia Ahramjian at West Chester University and Daniel Han of the Philadelphia Orchestra.  She is also a past participant in the NYYS Orchestra and Chamber Music Programs.

Louise Lau, Marketing and Development Assistant

With a background in music performance, education and music business, Louise Yee Lau has served as the Associate Concertmaster at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra; taught strings and directed the elementary school orchestra at Boyertown School District in PA; and worked as a classical music promoter and marketed chamber music concerts at New York City venues such as Lincoln Center and 92Y.

Ms. Lau holds an M.A. in Music Business from New York University and a B.M. in Violin Performance and Music Education from Temple University’s Esther Boyer College of Music.
