Shauna Quill, Executive Director
As Executive Director of University of Chicago Presents, Ms. Quill increased the scope of programming, attracted new audiences, and creating partnerships with academic and professional arts organizations in the Chicago area. The Soviet Arts Experience, a 16-month interdisciplinary celebration of artists’ response to the Politburo, involved the participation of 25 Chicago arts organizations. A ten-day interdisciplinary festival dedicated to composer Olivier Messiaen was hailed as brilliant by the Chicago press and named one of the top ten cultural events in Chicago in 2009.
Ms. Quill holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music Performance from Carnegie Mellon University. Originally from Garden City, New York, she studied flute at the Mannes College of Music Preparatory Division and at Columbia University. She began her career as an artist and publicity manager for Herbert Breslin, Inc. and then joined the staff of the Aspen Music Festival and School, where she was Artistic Administrator. Before moving to Chicago, Ms. Quill was Managing Director of the International Sejong Soloists and Green Mountain Music Festival in PyeongChang, South Korea. She served as consultant to the La Jolla Music Festival, EuroArts Berlin, and the Orel Foundation, and was project manager for Lincoln Center’s 2007/8 season’s concerts with Midori.
