The Purpose
To secure the Scholarship Fund so that no deserving student is ever turned away from enrollment in the New York Youth Symphony’s tuition-free programs in orchestral training, conducting, chamber music, jazz, and composition.

The Goal
The Next Generation Fund campaign was initiated to raise our endowment and reserve funds to $4 million. These funds will generate an annual stream of income so that the New York Youth Symphony can offer its programs to young musicians within a financially stable support system.

Why Now?
Thus far, $3,400,000 has been raised in gifts or pledges. We are encouraged by this faith placed in us by the individuals and foundations who have already contributed and would like to invite our wider public to participate. We urge those who would like to participate to help us reach our goal by the end of the year so that the funds can be in place to provide the financial stability needed to continue our programs.

Why You Should Care
Since 1963, the New York Youth Symphony has served the community by providing a focus for musicians, ages 12 to 22, to enhance their musical skills, nurture their development as good citizens, and enable them to make important career decisions at a critical time in their lives.  Moreover, thousands of New York-area music-lovers –including recent immigrants, disadvantaged students, and people with disabilities– continue to enjoy our high quality performances at very little cost, enriching New York’s lively music scene and developing future audiences.

How You Can Help
Your gift or bequest established during the Next Generation Fund campaign will be put to work right away. Your contribution honors your own commitment or to honor or memorialize a loved one and may be made in two ways:

  • a specific gift made at one time or, if you choose, over a period of years,
    or a bequest in your will of cash or another asset, such as stock, artwork, or real estate;
  • a residuary bequest in your will or part of your estate assets after debts, taxes,
    and other distributions.

Named Gifts and Bequests
At certain gift levels, your name or the name of someone you wish to honor or memorialize can be arranged, and that name will appear in our programs immediately. Naming opportunities include:
