Director of Marketing
Ian Maodver is the founder and director of B.O.S.S. (Bronx Office for Student Start-Ups). Ian developed and taught a curriculum designed to inspire students to start their own business. By working with various high schools and not-for-profits, such as Children’s Aid and Harlem Children’s Zone, the program reached many students who didn’t think of entrepreneurship as a possible career path.
Prior to his work in the Bronx, Ian was an entrepreneur himself where he started two companies – the first was an adhesive bandages company called Ouchies that filled the niche for kids between the ages of 6-14 years old who needed an alternative to boring, beige ones. After running it for six years, Ian sold Ouchies and then started an apparel brand called MadOverYou – that gave all of its net profits to arts programs at community centers in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and Boston. It was through his work with these community centers that steered Ian toward working with youth and paying it forward.
A native New Yorker, Ian studied English with a concentration in Journalism, and later became a leading marketer in New York City. Over the course of his ten-year career, he worked on many memorable campaigns with clients including IKEA Home Furnishings, Cape Cod Potato Chips, Jose Cuervo Tequila to name a few.
Ian lives with his wife, Nicole and three children now aged 20, 14 and 12 in Manhattan. He enjoys spending his free time with them watching movies, playing games and cooking amazing meals together. A quintessential New Yorker, Ian loves spending time with his family in the city he has called home his whole life, and equally enjoys giving back to it through his work.
