NYYS History

Season 29 1991-1992

Pianist André Watts volunteered his services as soloist for a fund-raising benefit in November.  He played Beethoven's Emperor Concerto.

Soprano Martina Arroyo was soloist in the March program, performing Mahler's Rückert Lieder.

The New Yorker:  “Once again, the youth Symphony has brought forward a composer to watch for (Carolyn Yarnell).  Samuel Wong, its music director, conducted a colorful, controlled performance.”  “The prowess of his young players is something one now takes almost for granted.  Their fresh, unforced tones waken fresh responses to even the most familiar works.” (Andrew Porter 1-7-91)
