Van Lier Fellowships
The New York Youth Symphony is delighted to announce a new grant from the New York Community Trust to fund four, two-year fellowships to NYC residents. The Van Lier Fellowships are designed to identify, train, and mentor students students from underserved communities who wish to prepare for and attend college. Open to NYYS students who are sophomores in high school, we encourage black, Latinx, and LGBTQ students to apply. Fellows will receive a $5,000 stipend to offset costs of NYYS fees, private lessons, travel, and instrument maintenance. Fellows will be paired with a mentor who will guide them throughout their fellowship and work together to create a personalized roadmap to college. Fellows are eligible for full tuition scholarships to the Interlochen Center for the Arts summer music camp. Fellows will participate in NYYS community outreach activities.
