Rufus Reid has long been one of the world’s top bassists. He’s toured and recorded with Stan Getz, Kenny Burrell, Nancy Wilson, Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, Dexter Gordon, Benny Golson, and countless others. These days, Reid is increasingly stepping into the spotlight as a bandleader and composer. Reid’s grand compositions are the centerpiece of the experience, fusing swinging jazz and European classical music with a rare level of depth, intensity, and variety. The program will also feature compositions by Quincy Jones, Thad Jones, and a NYYS First Music Commission by Eliana Fishbeyn.
