Ethan Brown

Cello, Seasons 49-53 | Orchestra

Why did you join NYYS?
I wanted raise my level of playing by entering a more competitive program, and I also wanted to be surrounded by people who have the same passion as I do.

What hobbies or interests do you have other than music?
I enjoy filmmaking and audio recording/engineering.

What kind of music do you listen to? Name a few of your favorite artists/ bands.
There is not a specific kind of music I listen to. If I hear a song or piece I like somewhere, it ends up finding it’s way onto my iPod some way or another. The majority of my library is classical and jazz. My favorite band would probably be The Beatles.

Which composer, living or dead, would you most like to have dinner with and why?
Bach. This man who was not only able to churn out a cantata a week, but was also able to maintain a massive family would be the most interesting to meet and have dinner with mostly because I would like to hear what he talks and thinks about normally.

What are you looking forward to most this season?
Brahms Symphony No. 4, Der Rosenkavalier Suite and Mozart Piano Concerto in C Major No. 21

Update, December 2016: Ethan is now a freshman at Northwestern University.
