Jocelyn Ho is an accomplished violinist and dedicated music educator, originally from Dallas, Texas. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education degree at Teachers College, Columbia University, and previously earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Violin Performance and Music Education from the Indiana University Jacobs School
of Music.
Driven by a deep commitment to equity and access in music education, Ms. Ho has taught in a range of communities across North Texas, Southern and Central Indiana, as well as internationally in Nairobi, Kenya. Her pedagogical approach is rooted in culturally responsive teaching, with a focus on cultivating a classroom of belonging and artistry, bridging the gap between popular music and music education, and developing a multi-styles curriculum in string education to promote broad and vibrant artistic experiences.
Ms. Ho’s research and advocacy have been featured at leading national and state conferences, including the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) Conference, Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Conference, and Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) Conference. She has been recognized as a Diverse String Teachers
Fellow by the Foundation for the Advancement of String Education and currently serves on the Texas Orchestra Directors Association IDEA Committee and the American String Teachers Association Eclectic Styles Committee. In addition to teaching, Ms. Ho maintains an active performance career. She has performed with symphony orchestras, rock bands, and independent artists, with recent engagements including performances with the McKinney Philharmonic, San Angelo Symphony, and The Greeting Committee. Rooted in the belief that music is a powerful tool for education, personal development, and community building, Ms. Ho is committed to contributing to a more just and
equitable world through music education with inclusive practices that allow every
student to find a sense of belonging through music.
