Flutist Francesca Ferrara is an avid performer, teacher, and arts administrator in New York City. She was a finalist for the 2021 New York Flute Club Competition and has performed with a number of ensembles on the east coast including Argento New Music Project, Sound Icon, Access Contemporary Music, ShoutHouse, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Camerata Washington Heights Orchestra. From 2020 to 2022, Francesca was a performer in residence for the Louis Moreau Institute in New Orleans, and was a resident fellow in the Contemporary Performance Institute at the 2018 Composers Conference. Francesca has performed in a number of music festivals including TIME:SPANS and the Tribeca New Music Festival in New York City and the Rossini Club’s summer music festival on Nantucket. She is a committed advocate for new music and frequently collaborates with composers to premier and record new works. With a passion for collaboration and sharing new music with a wider community, Francesca co-created Blank Canvas at Future Space in 2019, a concert series dedicated to presenting diverse programs by contemporary composers and expanding audiences for the featured ensembles. Along with performing, she teaches private flute lessons and is the Manager of Special Events and Membership for Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Francesca holds a Master of Music degree in Contemporary Performance from Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from The Boston Conservatory.
