Daniel Phillips

Violin | Chamber Music

Violinist Daniel Phillips enjoys a versatile career as an established chamber musician, solo artist and teacher. Mr. Phillips has performed as soloist with many of the country’s leading symphonies, including Pittsburgh, Houston, New Jersey, Phoenix, San Antonio and Yakima. He appears regularly at the Spoleto USA, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Chamber Music Northwest, Chesapeake Music Festival, and the International Musicians Seminar in Cornwall, England. He has also been serving on the summer faculties of the Banff Centre, Heifetz Institute, and the Colorado College Music Festival. He is a member of the renowned Bach Aria Group, and has toured and recorded in a string quartet for SONY, with Gidon Kremer, Kim Kashkashian, and Yo-Yo Ma. Recently he shared the solo spotlight in a performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in Santa Fe with violinists Benny Kim, Bella Hristova, and William Pruecil. Upcoming are concerto appearances with the Nova Philharmonic in New York, and the Queens College Symphony under Maestro Maurice Peress. His major teachers are his father, Eugene Phillips, former member of the Pittsburgh Symphony and a composer, Ivan Galamian, Sally Thomas, Sandor Vegh, and George Neikrug. Daniel Phillips is Professor of Violin at the Aaron Copland School of Music of Queens College, and on the faculties of the Mannes College of Music and the Bard Conservatory.
