Known for her own colorful and distintive sound, Dr. Myung-Joo Ahn is one of the rare musicians gifted with a wondrous technique and communicative phrasing. Her featured performances are highly acclaimed for their lyrical, playful, powerful natures and her huge range of repertoire in her solo, chamber music, and concerto performances.

Dr. Myung-Joo Ahn, born in Seoul, Korea, came to the United States at the age of 15 and attended Juilliard Pre-college. She graduated from the Juilliard School (BM and MM double degree program) and received her Doctoral of Musical Art Degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. During her study, she was invited to play for masterclasses by Jean-Pierre Rampal, Aurel Nicolet, James Galway, and Alain Marion.

Currently, Dr. Ahn is the principal flutist of the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Korea and a member of the Sejong Woodwind Quintet; a leader of Korea Flute Soloists; and has been selected as a Burkart Flute Artist since 2006. Ms. Ahn is a member of the flute faculty at the Seoul National University, the Korea National University of Arts, Han Yang University and Yewon Art School.

Since performing a solo recital at the Art Center in Korea, she has performed more than 10 recitals in Korea, some of which were broadcast on TV and Radio. Other awards include Grand Prize Winner at the New York Youth Symphony Concerto Competition, National Flute Association Competition, Beauregard Competition, Artist International Competition and many others.

Internationally, Dr. Ahn has had many solo recitals and chamber music concerts including the Art Center and Yong San Art Hall in Korea, the Weill Hall, Alice Tully Hall in NY, Akademiekonzert at Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, Spoleto in Italy, Holland and Australia. Her outstanding solo performances include The Art Center Orchestra Festival, Korean Broadcasting System Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean Symphony, Su Won Philharmonic Orchestra, Eurasian Philharmonic, Kang-nam Symphony Orchestra, Kun-Po Prime Orchestra, Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, and the New York Youth Symphony.
