Launched in the 2023/24 season, Crescendo is NYYS’s newest ensemble. It was formed in response to the need to serve more students from the five boroughs of New York City. With its 100% fee-free program, Crescendo has created another path for younger, motivated students to join the NYYS program.
Crescendo Orchestra focuses on the works of underrepresented composers, including women and people of color – opening the minds of these musicians making a more inclusive and thoughtful repertoire. There will be two concerts this season at Merkin Hall at The Kaufman Center and Symphony Space.
Come support our young musicians and be in the audience when they perform.

This is my second year at the NYYS Program. I will be staying as long as I can because all the faculty, kids, and instructors make everyone feel welcome and not only learn and create beautiful music, but also create friends and memories and amazing concerts!!
